Redruth director of rugby Dave Penberthy says he is disappointed not to have kept winger Rhodri McAtee on loan at the club for longer.

The Cornish Pirates back scored five tries in two matches during his fortnight on loan at the Rec.

But he has been recalled to the Pirates starting line-up for their match against London Scottish on Sunday.

"I had my fingers crossed that it was going to be for a bit longer," Penberthy told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"Of course we're disappointed but these are the things that go with loan signings.

"But Rhodri had his goals as well and he's used us as a bit of a stepping stone to get back and we're quite happy with that, we've had the benefit of his experience and expertise on the field," he said.

The Reds travel to bottom-of-the-table Westcombe Park on Saturday and Penberthy hopes his side can turn around their poor away form which has seen them lose their last three games on the road.

"It's a chance for us to buck the trend with our away form.

"Our last last three away games have been pretty abysmal and we've got to buck that trend.

"We've got a tough game ahead of us next week against Worthing who are currently top and the next week we travel to Launceston so it's vital that we continue with the form that we've shown in the last couple of weeks.

"We've got that hoodoo of away form stuck firmly to our backs at the minute and that's something I really do want to get rid of this week," Penberthy said.
