Warriors injury crisis gets worse

Warriors coach Hill has four back row men out with long-term injuries.

Worcester Warriors head coach Richard Hill plans to look at his list of possible signings, having been reduced to two fit back-row players.

Matt Kvesic's injury in Saturday's 15-9 loss at Exeter means only Sam Betty and Jake Abbott are left standing.

"We're in a mini-crisis at the moment," Hill told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"I said we could just about cope by putting Chris Jones at number eight but, after the bad luck to Matt, I'll have to find another back row."

Hill, who was already in the process of bringing in a new man last week, now says the need for reinforcements is even more imperative.

"It's not easy, but it is an absolute necessity now," he said. "The early part of this week I am going to have to find another back row.

"I had a list of available players and, after I'd picked one, I threw the list in the bin, but I'm going to have to find where I put it now.

"I understand we are further down the line with that signing. I can't really commit myself to that as it is not all signed and sealed. But, as a result of Saturday, I will need to get another one in too.

"We are lucky that we have some great open-side flankers at the club. Jake Abbott did well and put a lot of pressure on at the breakdown when he came on. He forced some turnovers and carried a lot of ball, he took a few bashes and looks a bit of a state now."

Warriors' A side, the Cavaliers, have an Aviva A league game at Newcastle on Monday evening.
