Cornish Pirates centre Ryan Westren has left the Mennaye for Championship rivals London Scottish.

Westren, 27, has not made a league start for the Pirates since signing from Launceston in the summer.

He has spent the past three weeks back on loan at his former club.

"Ryan Westren asked to be released from his contract in order to allow him to play regular Championship rugby elsewhere," said Pirates chief executive Rod Coward.

"We feel it was only fair to Ryan to accede to this request and we wish him every success in his future career."

Westren scored three tries in his loan spell at Launceston as was National One's top try-scorer last season as he broke the club record with 25 tries.

But he has struggled to establish himself at the Pirates, making one substitute appearance at Nottingham last month and playing in two of the club's British and Irish Cup matches.
