The Ospreys have given fly-half Sam Davies a three-year development deal.

Davies, son of Scarlets boss Nigel, is a Gowerton Comprehensive School pupil who has impressed for Principality Premiership side Swansea this season.

The 18-year-old has yet to play for the Ospreys, but was included in this term's Heineken Cup squad.

"With players like Matthew Morgan and Dan Biggar at the Ospreys who are both still very young I know competition will be tough," Davies said.

"But if I continue to work hard then hopefully in a couple of years I can push through and challenge them for the number 10 spot.

"I'm really pleased to have been given this chance and to join the cause. I've been working hard towards it, so it's great news that I've got a three-year contract.

"I've really enjoyed playing for Swansea this season. It's good experience for me to be part of a young team that is looking to improve and I want to learn from every game I play."
