Redruth boss Dave Penberthy has backed incoming head coach Adrian Edwards to make a success of the job.
Edwards will take over from Penberthy when he steps down at the end of the season after a decade in charge.
"He's a knowledgeable guy, he's been around good teams and he's worked with very good people," Penberthy said.
"He'll apply himself really well to the task in hand, I think he's aware that it's going to be a challenging role and I'm sure that'll fire him up."
Former Cornish Pirates team manager Edwards worked with Redruth for two seasons from 2008-10 and for half of the following season, so knows the club set-up well.
Penberthy told BBC Radio Cornwall that he is having mixed emotions as he comes towards the end of his time as Redruth's director of rugby.
This season he has had to deal with a number of the club's better players leaving as financial problems saw the squad fail to be paid on time.
"I've loved it all the way," he said.
"This season has been very challenging with off-field issues overtaking those on the field but the guys who are on the field have kept me sane in many respects.
"I've said to them that I'll continue to support them for as long as I can.
"I suppose there's an element of me saying 'Just hurry up and get here' so that I can hang my boots up, but then there's another bit that says to me 'What am I going to do on a Saturday afternoon?'"
