Jimmy Gopperth positive on Newcastle Falcons survival bid

Newcastle fly-half Jimmy Gopperth has conceded avoiding relegation from the Premiership will be an uphill task but is confident the club can stay up.

Falcons have four games left to overhaul an eight point gap between themselves and London Wasps, with Sale Sharks next up on Friday night.

"There's no way of hiding that we haven't got time on our side," Gopperth told BBC Look North.

"But we're still confident that we can do the job."

Following the visit of Sale, Falcons then travel to Gloucester, host Saracens, and end the campaign with a potential relegation decider at fellow strugglers Wasps on the final day of the season.

"We're trying to win every single game, we need to go out there on Friday and give it a real good crack.

"If we beat Sale it puts a lot more pressure on Wasps as well. For us and the fans we need a good win.

"We've got to make sure that the next three games take care of themselves and go down there to Wasps and have a bit of fun."
