Lock Nic Rouse says Nottingham must stay focused even though their play-off hopes are no longer in their own hands.
The Green & Whites drew 19-19 at regular season winners and promotion favourites Bristol on Friday to keep alive their semi-final dream.
But Nottingham now need to secure bonus-point wins in their last two games and need Bristol to beat London Welsh and deny them a bonus point.
"Our only focus can be on getting the five points against Donny," Rouse said.
London Welsh currently top Pool A on 18 points and are just one point away from securing a place in the semi-finals.
Nottingham, who are third on eight points, need a bonus-point victory against Doncaster on 14 April to stay in the hunt.
And if Bristol get the better of the Exiles at Old Deer Park next week and deny them a bonus point, then Nottingham take back control of their promotion destiny.
The Green & Whites meet London Welsh in the last group game at Meadow Lane Stadium on 21 April.
"Right now, fate has been taken out of our hands but it's Bristol that can give us control back," Rouse added.
"It's disappointing that we find ourselves in this situation because we were in the position to take beat Bristol ourselves, but this is the reality we live in.
"We might need some things to go our way now, but we can't get carried away with the whole thing and look across at what anyone else is doing.
"Things are going to be tight at the finish, but right now we are still in the race."
