Christian Wade named in England squad to face the Barbarians

Christian Wade is set to make his senior England debut after being named in Stuart Lancaster's side for Sunday's Killik Cup game against the Barbarians.

The 20-year-old winger has been superb for London Wasps this season and is the second highest try scorer in the Premiership with nine in 15 games.

Hooker Dylan Hartley returns from an eight-week ban for biting.

'Electric' Wade excites Lancaster

Charlie Hodgson is back at fly-half with Owen Farrell at inside centre, while Phil Dowson is captain.

"We are treating this as a very important game for setting the foundations for the tour [of South Africa]," said Lancaster of the match, for which caps will not be awarded.

"The players have been excellent this week and have been fully focused as we are looking to build on the momentum of the Six Nations. This is a really important milestone in our preparation for South Africa."

England coach Lancaster is without his 18-strong Leicester and Harlequins contingent, who meet in the Premiership final on Saturday.

With Manu Tuilagi on Tigers duty, England have opted for the Hodgson-Farrell combination at 10 and 12 with Brad Barritt shifting to outside centre.

Lee Dickson continues at scrum-half with full-back Ben Foden and wing Chris Ashton completing England's near full-strength back division.

Hartley will be propped by Matt Stevens at loose-head and Paul Doran-Jones at tight-head, while Mouritz Botha and Tom Palmer pack down in the second row and Tom Johnson and Carl Fearns join Dowson in the back row.

"Being able to name a back line very similar to the Six Nations and the strength we have in the forwards with the likes of Tom Johnson and Carl Fearns, who played in this game last year, is a real positive," added Lancaster.

"The support we had at Twickenham against Wales and Ireland was fantastic and we can't wait to get back there. The Barbarians have a really strong team packed with talent and experience and having been involved in this fixture before I know it will be a great occasion."
