Leeds Rhinos legend Keith Senior is training with the city's Championship rugby union side, Leeds Carnegie.

Senior, 36, left the Rhinos at the end of the 2011 season after 12 years and is currently recovering from a cruciate knee injury.

A move to Crusaders collapsed last year after the Welsh side decided not to renew their Super League license.

He said: "I am still working hard with the medical team here and I'm confident I will be able to play rugby again."

Carnegie head coach Diccon Edwards added: "We are delighted to welcome Keith into our group for pre-season training.

"The hope is that he can prove his fitness and we can then sit down with him and discuss the future after that."

Senior, who made 321 appearances for the Rhinos, was capped 33 times by Great Britain during his league career.
