Ulster edged out Bayonne 20-15 in their opening pre-season friendly game in the south of France on Thursday night.

Two tries by David Roumieu helped the French outfit lead 12-3 at the break with Paddy Jackson hitting Ulster's first-half penalty.

Michael Heaney's try got Ulster back into the game after the restart with Niall O'Connor adding the conversion.

O'Connor and Cedric Garcia hit penalties at either end before Neil McComb's decisive late Ulster try.
