Rob Miller welcomes Cameron Shepherd's arrival at Sale
Rob Miller believes the arrival of Australia international Cameron Shepherd will bring healthy competition for the full-back spot at Sale.
Miller, 23, made the position his own last season, ending as the top try scorer in the Premiership.
And with the Sharks competing in the Heineken Cup next season, he says it is important to have a strong squad.
"What we want to do as a squad is have competition throughout," Miller told BBC Radio Manchester.
"The squad that we've assembled over the last couple of years has allowed that to happen. We've got quality in any position.
"If anyone's injured or something doesn't go right, there are people there ready to fill in.
"Cameron's a very experienced player, he's played out in Australia and he's been at the top of his game for a lot of years.
"To pick his brains and learn from someone like him will be fantastic. It can only improve you as a player by training and playing with people of high standards."
Sale, who finished sixth in the Premiership last season, begin the new campaign at Exeter on 1 September, seven days before playing their first ever league match at the Salford City Stadium against Saracens.
