Karl Dickson has signed a two-year contract extension with Harlequins which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2015.

The 30-year-old scrum-half made 17 league appearances last season as Quins won the Premiership title.

Director of rugby Conor O'Shea said: "Karl's influence on the squad is enormous and the competition between himself and Danny Care is great.

"We are fortunate to have two of the leading scrum-halves in the country."

Dickson joined the Twickenham Stoop outfit in 2009 from Bedford Blues and has played 57 games in total for the club, scoring five tries.

He joined England on their tour of South Africa this summer following an injury to Ben Youngs.

"I believe that there are even more exciting and successful times ahead for the club and I want to be part of them," Dickson said.

"Winning the Amlin Challenge Cup in 2011 and the Aviva Premiership last May shows the potential of the current squad."
