Launceston look to build on last season's form

New Launceston head coach Cliff Rainsford has urged his team to bring the form they showed at the end of last season into the new campaign.

Rainsford's side welcome newly-promoted Chinnor to Polson Bridge on Saturday, in National Two South.

"They'll want to come to Polson and put a marker down for the rest of the season," he told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"It's not going to be an easy task, but we're at home and I'm hoping the boys are going to step up and do a job."

Despite changes to the coaching set-up during the summer, most of Launceston's players have returned for the new campaign, and Rainsford said he felt positive about the new season.

"The majority of the squad have stayed and carried on from where we finished off last season," he said.

"We finished seventh last year and I'd like to improve on that. If you don't try and more forward the tendency is to go backwards."
