London Welsh: Lyn Jones urges for improvement

London Welsh director of rugby Lyn Jones has urged his newly-promoted Premiership side to learn and improve after their latest heavy defeat.

Welsh were beaten 40-3 by Harlequins on Friday, following their opening-day 13-38 defeat by Leicester.

"We've learned a hell of a lot about ourselves and how to play at the top level," Jones told BBC Radio Oxford.

"The players are disappointed, not with losing, but perhaps the performance was not as good as it could be."

Welsh next host Exeter at the Kassam Stadium and Jones is keen to see some improvement from his side.

"We all appreciate that we need to grow as a team and it is another step for us to learn about each other," he said.

"There will be a lot more tough days to come but there will be a lot more positive days as well.

"We have to make sure that the plan we've got is the correct one and that we are working towards being as accurate as we can be."

Jones added: "We need to improve in lots of areas obviously. People put you under pressure and they make you ask questions of yourself.

"For us the big disappointment is we got into field areas but we failed to win possession to put pressure on the opposition to register some points and to only score three is a fair reflection."
