And to you too mate.
Fair shout and you're right about the WC! All the bes to yout ,mate.
True what you've said but I just think keeping the ball up front is more of a percentage play. They should be practicing and rehersing such moves til the cows come home in training to prevent any such fumbling. Anyway Aus & Wales in the same pool for 2013 so plenty of time to get things right before then!
You may be right but if they'd have fumbled it, or given it away or been penalised and Aus had scored a try or kicked a penalty we'd all be saying, why didn't he kick it back into their 22 and we could have successfully defended against them down there, as we'd defended all afternoon, and maybe even forced a mistake from them? Anyway, a gutter.
@ NPT.Mate it didn't work back in June (I believe it was at the end of the 2nd Test), nor did it work on Saturday. Good point you made about it being a team decision, however I simply think it was the wrong call both times. There was little between the two teams on Saturday, & it was only the 1st Test in June Wales were outclassed;- Tests 2 & 3 were for the taking, as was Saturday
I'm no great fan of Priestland but he did presicely the right thing in kicking that ball long and well outside of Wales' 22. If Wales had wanted to give their forwards the ball, deep within their' own half, Phllips would have done so and not involved his 10 at all.
Why, prey may I ask, did Priestland (with his team in the lead) hoof the ball downfield into the hands of the opposition with only 80 seconds left on the clock? Believe it was he who did the same thing with 75 seconds remaining at the end of the 2nd Test in June (once again with his team leading). Surely it would have been better to have kept the ball with the pack until FT, & then hoof it out?
The line out hasn't functioned for years and under Gatland we have lost the art of running the ball, preferring to kick, often aimlessly (see Priestland for verification) and constantly giving away possession. How mad is that against New Zealand? Whatever happened to kicking for touch? Priestland? An upmarket Stephan Jones. He got lucky at the World Cup. Bring back Hook - please!
Welsh rugby is either on cloud nine or in the pits of despair. Now we have a period of the latter.OK we had some injuries but the collective mental and physical toughness was not there, with negligible leadership. There is clearly something seriously wrong with the connection between the management team and the players. You tell me.
Hersh......I expect a better quality of wum from yourself. Try harder ;)Rabo less than 5 years. 1950's more than 60 years ago.slight difference there.
To blame Wales' loss on Priestland kicking the ball away in last minute is naive & preposterous. How many tackles were missed in that last minute? The answer is far too many - just like the previous 79 mins! Along with the line-out, which is embarassing, these basic skills were woefully inadequate. What are the coaches doing about it? Not a lot it would seem. Matthew Rees clown of the series.
hi there 114. Sounds like you really really like Andrew Hore. That's nice! There's not enough love in the world. Did you soil yourself laughing at the AB's performance too, matter of interest? Or not bothered, now that your hero 'Andrew' isn't playing?So..Wales, England and Australia share a group! Hmm... Could be worse. Just about...
@113 HERSH.Don't think you can point the finger @ Rabo Pro 12 as reason / cause for northern hemisphere sides not being competitve vs southern hemisphere opponents. Scotland beat Australia, Fiji, & Samoa away last summer, and beat both Australia & South Africa @ Murrayfield several years ago. The last 3 matches Wales faced Australia they could have, and should have won.
Hillarious! After all the bleating from the welchies about how they'd have won had it not been for Andrew Hore, their team pitch up and put a performance like THAT out! Not one of them would get into a super 15 team.I'll be busy for the next few weeks soiling myself laughing!
This does show that the Rabo isn't that good for developing International players who can beat the BIG teams like NZ, Wales haven't done it since the 1950's and Ireland and Scotland have yet to do it at all.
