he's wrong. as we saw in the wales v new zealand game, we actually need the TMO to look at foul play in-game rather than let refs bottle it with a report.andrew hore would've been red carded, maybe Chris Hala'ufia not red carded (not seen the offence) and we get a better informed decision from the ref.the report system is only fair if the player is innocent.
Sa and Phil Murphy this story is about the merits of the report system, not which code of rugby is superior. As an avid fan of both we should appreciate the skill set which each code has to offer. Yes some league clubs are struggling financially, but remember Wasps were on the brink too before they were saved. Union has done well thus far without the report system, players get cited eventually.
Phil, Onion needs league coaches and players. I think I have stated that enough times. I don't have a code. Fishing is my game.
geez what's with all the mudslinging people - union v league! I am a union supporter and only at a very few grounds will you seen the stands full, whereas in League there always is a very good attendance. I dont know what they are paid (either code) but that does not matter. The point here is that Smith suggested using a league way of citing, he did not say lets start a fight...
Crusaders gone, Wakefield in administration then brought out, Bradford in administration then brought out, Salford on the horizon going into trouble..........hmmm what is the average attendance in league.....say at Salford for instance........hmmm and where does union need league coaches exactly.......yer havin a laff just like your code it's so funny, think before you speak or write.........
More and more video evidence is being used to assist the referee that I cannot see why in this case it is not referred to a video ref to give his opinion. Hala'ufia's tackle was def not a red card offence at worst a yellow card. In the S15 they issue a white card which goes on report as Smith suggested. Also in the Bath match Banahan should never have received a red, allround poor officiating!
clownface, you need to do your research. More people then ever are playing league and the attendances are higher then ever. In fact, club matches average more spectators in league then in onion. We all know league palyers only ever go to onion for an easy life and big pay packet. Don't blame them for doing it. Easier job with more money, I know I would do it.
don't even need to enter the league vs union battle- just need to take a quick glance at the falling playing numbers and attendances of league matches (which were never that high) to realise League is a dying code that will soon be completely forgotten except for a few die hard trollers
Because without them your game would be even worse.
Onion needs league coaches?? They would be lost without them?? And even the league coaches can't make this game any good.........so why do we need them............your contradicting yourself.......yawn
@28 the call was entirely the referees, the touch judge said (can be heard via reflink on the videos!) that he couldn't see because of the sun. I have to question therefore what value this touch judge was at any point, looking across the pitch at ground level with the sun behind the south stand. If he couldn't see the tackle as he claimed then he must have missed the whole first half of the game
Onion needs league coaches. They would be lost without them, and even the league coaches can't make this game any good. Kick, clap, kick, clap. Yawn.
the only way to sort out foul play or not is video play back simple, get the fourth official to earn his money
The video review system came from the NFL ...........and league coaches come to union for the bigger profile and the better money, I don't see Shaun Edwards rushing back to Lancashire, and why do league coaches cross over........please don't tell me it's about defence and attack systems
Mr Murphy, If, as you say, Union has nothing to learn from League, would you mind telling me where you got the video review system from, or indeed why you need to have so many league coaches in your game?
Don't go down the on report route RL leagues bottle it and some horrible challenges go unpunished.
To sa and leaguefan we at union have nothing whatsoever to learn from league as we know how to stay out of administration and fill our grounds with spectators as we have been professional since 1995 unlike league who still can't get it right and that's from 1895 oops got to go here comes another magic weekend roadshow.........yer gotta laugh
@30 like SW he lifted him, AR was right you just need to accept that and move on.
