BBC4 reporting Stevie D sited in Washington DC. Brought in to bang the heads of Democrats and Republicans, to avoid 'fiscal cliff' - economic meltdown. Went in cognito, but given away by jeans, scally soxs, scarf and constant chatter. Stevie to chair Economic Salvation Committee' supported by Mitchell, Redpath, Brewer, and Obama.P.S Redpaths been sacked.PPS Need some leadership from a Kennedy
When i'm not (admittedly quite ungraciously) laughing at the whole thing.. I think mr kennedy should cut the rot right out at the core and start over.. This story just keeps giving to the likes of the casual observer.. It needs to go away for the sake of the fans and the precious few season tickets they risk selling next time round. All the same, Thank you dimes, for making space for Nigel Davies
It is obvious what needs to be done at Sale. The overwelming opinion by the true supporters is to get rid of the self centred idiot that is Steve Diamond. He was wrong to pinch edpath from Gloucester, wrong to sack him, wrong to reinstate him, wrong to get mitchell involved but most of all wrong to stay at the club. completely out of his depth and is an embarrasment in the way he conducts himself.
Diamond tried the revolutionary approach 2 years ago and it seemed to work. but revloutions have to stop somewhere, in this instance it seems like a good time for Robespierre to face the guillotine.
Kehoe86 - I am inclined to agree. I really liked Steve Diamonds approach initially but with everything that has gone on, someone has to be accountable. I am a season ticket holder and probably always will be, and I genuinely believe that we'll just about survive this season. The John Mitchell saga was ridiculous, pity that he's left & with the players we have we just shouldn't be in this position.
Doesn't look good for Sale off or on the field at the moment as they will need to turn things around soon if they want to avoid the drop and make a fight of it with Irish and Welsh. It may be worth selling off a few top players before they are relegated with an aim to building a strong Championship side to win promotion back to the Premiership next season.
Sale's problem is Steve Diamond. It has to be about him and only him nobody else if the club doesn't revolve around him there are issues. Saracens had the same problem with him when he was Director of Rugby previously. Brian Kennedy needs to sort out Diamond.
I've watched Sale for 15 years, during which we've had both good and bad teams. We've had 3 grounds and ~15 coaches/directors of rugby, it's genuinely difficult to recall them all. We're now up to 2 or 3 per YEAR over the last 3-4 years. With single ticket(£45)/parking(£5)/ticket purchase costs(£3+£3+£2.25) costing up to ~£60 I have pretty much stopped going. I now go to Widnes/Wigan/etc.
We do have a good team, but why do management always think its 'the stick' that works when a side is losing. Bringing in the heavy mob isn't always effective, 'the carrot' can have more impact. We need someone with better man management skills to manage confidence and bring out the best in the players as a group. We played no differently/better/worse Friday, we just got more of the 50-50 decisions
Sale have turned into a complete farce. First there the whole way in which Redpath was brought over from Gloucester. Then there was the removal of Redpath as head coach and then the farce of him being offered a lesser role. Then the deliberate mis-communications over the role of Mitchell. Now this. I fear the worst for this club.
What a donkey show. Clear absence of leadership.
Does anybody remember Barry Fry from soccer?I'm no soccer fan but I remember him being the biggest wally I've ever seen in sport. Diamond seems to be in his mold. All is not lost for shey have a good squad and good people there but they need to remove the element of instability.
The thing is Diamond doesn't even wear a tracksuit at games. He wears jeans! What example is that? The answer is very simple. Sack Diamond now and we may survive.
@34, oh yeah because thats what everyone wants.....muppet
Bet the RFU are quietly smiling ..... if they can get Sale to implode out of the premiership, they can have their dream league, where no team is located North of Leicester ......
"John Mitchell quits as coach to return to South Africa", is not a surprise. Mr S Diamond could not leave it alone. His comments on Sale's performance last week just prove the point. This is a club in the heart of "rugby country", (both codes). The long term damage to future development of home grown talent is very sad to see. Mr S Diamond should have a long look in the mirror, then leave.
Sale are sale-ing down to the Championship
Have to agree with browndog re Cipriani. Sale's 2 big wins this year have come with him at 10. Show some faith in him and let him regain confidence. Every team will be a little wary of what he can do!
