412. James remember how pants wales looked against Italy? scots scored twice the tries against italy and as many tries against england and france as wales. wales had 2 good halves of rugby in them - one in losing to ireland and 1 in beating england. otherwise they were as ordinary as any other team at any time in the 6n - apart from 1st 1/2 vs Ireland where they looked the weakest team in 6n
Hey Erchie why don't we just take the entire Scottish team on the lions eh?! Scotland are a poor team with mainly poor players I think the 6 nations showed that quite clearly. Lydiate was named player of the 6 nations last season he has been injured since. Like talking to a brickwall, you are more biased than HERSH!! :)))
Interesting srticle here:http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-news/bulk-squared-lions-simple-equation-20130318-2gar7.htmlComments after post make entertaining reading too...
SteveWalsh'sDubiousDecision. Really. Do you watch rugby? No. Didn't think so.
407, Bengm: Strongly agree. Regardless of his form, if O'C doesn't go Australia are sure to fancy their chances taking on the Lions' second row. The question of form is less an issue with tight forwards than with threequarters, in my opinion: record, fitness, temprament, and the disposition to get up for another big one seem to be the factors that matter more. I think O"Connell is likely to go.
@404Ferris is not in the same class as Lydiate. Not sure that Ferris will ever really be back - talk of him on his way out of Ulster.
i hope o'connell does go, there is no other lock that makes a bigger nuisance of himself in the break downs and theres no one that does it better! thats what we need him
@405If Lydiate was fit enough (and I hope he can be yet, though I doubt it sadly) he would be one of the first names on the list, best 6 in Europe last season sad that we have not seen him this season. Ferris is not in his class 402I dont think O Connell will go sadly I think his star is on the wane.Ryan Jones just maybe, very good captain as well. O Brien I would say yes
Some chat about goode being better than hogg, must be joking. hogg far more dangerous and gifted player. Not sure abt lydiate, all welsh saying he shld go straight into lions squad but not convinced think there were better flankers in 6n. if looking at players coming back from injury, r rennie played well other night vs ulster and looks like o connell is coming back strong.
@402Ferris is the best 6, much better player than Lydiate, but injured unfortunately.
@402I don't buy this R Jones for captain. Gats stripped him of the Welsh captaincy several years ago and, when Lydiate/Faletau/all their 2Rs are fit, he can't even get in the Welsh side under Gats. And then there is all the competition for places in the back row.
Lydiate is the best 6 but his long lay off could count against him. Ryan Jones could be the surprise choice at blindside and even as captain.
@389 Completely agree with you about O'Biren and O'Mahony. O'Brien carried a lot of ball but not very affectively, didn't make many yards and didn't break many first tackles, he is a physically strong guy but lacks the rugby brain which O'Mahony has, he didn't carry as much but his carries were intelligent attacking space and weak shoulders and also not getting isolated as O'Brien does often
