Are Leinster still the best team in Europe?
@292LOL 4 the 3rd time in a week, I find myself agreeing with an Aussie!Lions only have 1 player who can o.i.t.t properly, & he is a Kiwi!Only problem you got is getting the TAB to odd up honestly on a 15 spread!Good luck to all the Lion/Wallaby rugby fans whichever team you support, in the forthcoming Lions tour of Australia
Hi Jeremy,Ulster have had a good season. We got to Heineken Cup final last year. We got to HC quarter finals, and topped the Rabo Pro 12 going into the playoffs this year. Ulster's new capacity stadium at Ravenhill should be ready by next season. But the big question is what are the positions where Ulster need some fresh faces to continue to improve and achieve success next season?
Most Aussie fans I have spoken to more than happy with the Lion selectons. We could have done a lot worse. I look at the opposition before a test match, weigh up player for player etc, see which of them I wish were playing for us. Uncomfortable mostly when we are playing SA or NZ.Not many of the Lions in that boat, 3 or 4. !5 in a team so odds are with us Envy our neighbours, fig would be 0
Fun question.who would you choose in a Lions xv from the professional era(1997,2001,2005 and 2013 combined)?
Hi Jerry,Went to Allianz and saw Saints upset Sarries in a pretty convincing fashion. It seems that when the Saracens pack is on the back foot, they have no plan B, due to the lack of creativity at fly half an 12. My question is, do you think the CURRENT Saracens have a good enough squad to ever become a GREAT team, as oppose to just a good team as they are now?
@285. I can agree with that. He'd be in the mix along with Biggar, Priestland and Hook.
I don't think the Wales fans on here need to worry too much. Expect at least 10 welsh to start 1st test and Farrell will only get on if Sexton injured or game won. Anyhow with that welsh dominated pack in front of him he won't be too exposed during the odd cameo. Lets not vilify the young man, he is far from a great player but not alone in the squad in that respect.
@285 Agree, I think the english front five this year looked vulnerable for the first time in a long time, looking back at the eng/aus game in the autumn I remember when england had that scrum close to the aussie line in the last few mins, I thought england are going to scrummage them into the ground, but it never happened. I wonder have eng sacrificed good scrummagers for flashy ball carriers?
@283: If it is a marginal call between Biggar/Farrell, then that proves my origional point. Farrell would get close to the Welsh team. That is all.@282/284: I have wondered for a while that if Sheridan hadn't been injured in '11 WC, whether he would have been retained in the Eng squad or not. Deff has been missed!
@282 fair point, I recently watched the second test the Lions played v SA in 2009, sheridan was excellent, strong ball carrier good scrummager v powerful unit. Also didn't take any guff off of bakkies botha! Relished getting stuck into them boks!
@Mr Ichallen. I feel that where there were marginal calls regarding players, they've given the edge to non Welsh players to create a more balanced squad. It's not just Biggar that's fallen foul of that.
the best front row forward is english but he isn't on tour anyway sheridan I know he's playing in france but your'd struggle to find a better scrummager anywhere in world rugby
@276 agree, the whole thing smacks of cronyism, Is it just coincidence that rowntree truly believed the best front row forwards available to him just happened to be english? Since he's going to be that unsubtle why not bring thompson, vickery and leonard! Don't get me started on Daddygate!
