Malcolm Brown praise for Cumbria's Twickenham finalists

Head coach Malcolm Brown has praised his Cumbria side for a gritty 13-11 victory against Warwickshire that booked their place in Sunday's Twickenham Championship Shield final.

Alistair Ledingham's penalty was enough to seal victory with two minutes to go.

"It was quite attritional, there was never more than four points in it," Brown told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"It took a lot of belief and discipline but we have some tremendous rugby players and they'll do Cumbria proud."

Cumbria make the trip to rugby union's 'headquarters' where they will face Surrey, who beat them at the semi-final stage in each of the previous two years.

"We took the game back to them (last year) and we were determined to get the result," Brown added.

"I believe we can go the whole way. Let's just get down there and the Cumbrian lads will be up for it."
