Newcastle Falcons half-back Chris Pilgrim extends contract
Newcastle Falcons scrum-half Chris Pilgrim has signed a new deal, although the terms remain undisclosed.
Pilgrim missed most of last season with a cruciate injury, but returned to the squad for the Championship play-off second leg against Bedford.
"After a tough year personally, I am excited at the prospect of competing for the number nine jersey again," the 26-year-old said.
Pilgrim joined the Falcons from Nottingham in August 2009.
Although he has scrum-half cover from Mike Blair and Rory Lawson, director of rugby Dean Richards was happy to retain Pilgrim's services after allowing Jordi Pasqualin to join London Scottish this summer.
"Chris is a talented scrum-half and I am delighted that he has committed his future to the club," he said.
"When he sustained his injury at the start of last season we thought that he would be out for the rest of the campaign, but his work-rate in the gym and desire to get back to full fitness for the final few matches is testament to his professional character."
