Gloucester: Martyn Thomas awarded new one-year contract
Gloucester have given a new one-year contract to full-back Martyn Thomas.
Thomas joined the Cherry and Whites on a year-long deal, with the option of a further season, last summer and he has made 10 starts in all competitions.
The 26-year-old Welshman arrived at Kingsholm after spending six years with Newport Gwent Dragons.
"In the last year Martyn has shown us glimpses of what he's capable of," director of rugby Nigel Davies told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
"I spoke to him at the end of the season and he felt a little frustrated as he felt there's more in him to give - as do we.
"We're mindful of our full-back cover, as we're not quite sure what will happen with [injured] Olly Morgan.
"We need to make sure we've got the right balance within our squad.
"Martin will fill a role and hopefully he will kick on and show us what he's capable of."
