WRU: Whitehouse handed national match official manager role

Nigel Whitehouse

Former international referee Nigel Whitehouse has been appointed national match officials manager by the Welsh Rugby Union.

Whitehouse is to replace another ex-international referee Rob Yeman, who is stepping down from the post.

The former South Wales police officer, who officiated in 21 Test matches, will take over the post with immediate effect.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenges ahead," said Whitehouse.

"I look forward to picking up where Rob has left off and to continue to help take Welsh refereeing forward for many years to come."

Whitehouse takes on the job after being the WRU's referee performance and development officer.

Yemen will now take on the role of referees operational support officer.
