Both are slow, can't pass or tackle; Scottish rugby is awful
137. Jackson's passing is the weakest part of his game. Just because you can pick out some good passes in his career proves nothing. No one is saying he can never give a good pass , but overall his passing is below the standard required of an international 10 and possibly a pro-club 10.
My biggest concern abt this team is the back row where Johnosn has taken huge gamble IMO. Denton and Beattie usually spend most of their time out wide, lack of specialist at breakdown, and against the wallabies, is that wise.....
Does anyone know why Ali Hogg isn't involved for Scotland these days?
@136Point 1 - probablyPoint 2 - Completely disagree (see Visser try v. Italy in 6N, both Seymore's tries v. Japan, also Dickinson's, see Glasgow try v. Ulster this season) full of awareness and passing skill.Point 3 - Probably
Weir is certainly the better of 2 very average 10s.Jacksons passing is terrible and for a stand off he has very little awareness and no attacking ability. If weir can step up his game he is surely the future No.1
@131 Steroidal monsters? Bit controversial surely? England have always had big packs but then they have a lot of big slices to pick from. Scotland just need to play smarter i.e. like NZ in the first 20 of last week and not get pulled into a slugfest up front.
Why was Bennet not released for the Glasgow game on Fri ?. He's not in the matchday squad,so could that mean that Tommy Seymore isn't 100% and could drop out at the last moment and in comes Bennet ?. Still think Bennet should be in for his first cap although he'll get plenty of game time at Glasgow as Peter Horne is out for a while longer. C'mon you Jock's.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Weir can offer at 10 from the start. Generally impressed when he has played and he runs straighter lines. That should hopefully allow us to see how effective Taylor can be. Last week he only got the ball after Jackson stepped sideways and offloaded seconds before the South African defence crashed in - not a fun day for being a battering ram!
Can someone speculate on the tactics we will employ given the shape of the team and especially with 3 No8s in the back row?
Happy with the team. Hopefully no last minute changes.Surprised that RG is not in, but the Scotland squad is as strong as it was in '99, when the team became 5N champions....Comparatively though,we are going to struggle against the steroidal monsters in the English pack.....
