Pro12: Flanker Sam Lewis snubs Dragons to stay with Ospreys
Flanker Sam Lewis has signed a new deal with the Ospreys despite Newport Gwent Dragons claims he had signed for them.
Lewis has signed a two-year deal to stay at the Liberty Stadium.
"I am 100 per cent committed to the Ospreys and I'd like to apologise for any confusion caused by recent statements which coincided with a brief period of uncertainty on my part," said Lewis.
"However, I have signed a two-year contract to stay here at the Ospreys and I look forward to continuing to represent my home region as I continue to develop on and off the field."
Ex-Ospreys boss Lyn Jones, on New Year's Day, said the signing underlined their ambition of becoming Wales' top region.
"This is a significant signing for us and just shows our determination to become the best region in Wales," said Jones at the time.
Lewis, 23, is the younger brother of former Ospreys flanker Ben.
The latter was at the age of 24 in 2011.
Ospreys' back-row players include Wales stars Justin Tipuric and Ryan Jones and Lyn Jones says Sam Lewis could look forward to regular appearances at the Dragons.
"I have always been a big fan of Sam and his brother before him," said Jones,
"He comes from a good rugby family and has the edge to become a quality international player.
"Playing regularly will help him achieve his ambitions."
