Glasgow Warriors have signed James Downey from Munster on a two-year deal.
The 33-year-old centre, who has made one appearance for Ireland, won the European Challenge Cup during a five-year spell with Northampton Saints.
"James is a quality player who will be an excellent addition to our squad," said Glasgow head coach Gregor Townsend.
"He has lots of experience with Northampton and Munster, and has been involved in some epic European games."
Downey made 47 appearances for Munster and featured in all of their Heineken Cup games over the past two seasons, including the quarter-final win over Toulouse in April.
He faced the Warriors at Scotstoun in the Pro12 play-off in May, a match Glasgow won 16-15 to reach their first final.
"I'm really excited about moving to Glasgow and taking on this new challenge," said Downey.
"This is a great opportunity for me to join an ambitious club and hopefully I can have a successful couple of years in Glasgow.
"I'm looking forward to playing at Scotstoun regularly in front of very passionate supporters. The atmosphere at the Pro12 play-off was incredible."
