The Welsh Rugby Union is hopeful that the four Welsh regions will agree to a double-header of Pro12 derby games at the Millennium Stadium this season.

The event, dubbed 'Judgement Day', was launched in the 2012-13 season.

The previous agreement was contained in the old Participation Agreement but new terms must now be sought after the Rugby Services Agreement was signed.

"The WRU is keen to meet and agree new terms as quickly as possible," said the governing body in a statement.

"The Millennium Stadium has a date in its diary - the weekend of 24th April - for the event and has indicated to both parties its desire to meet and discuss terms for Judgment Day III."

Last season saw Cardiff Blues beat Scarlets 17-13 at the Millennium Stadium in the first half of the double-header, before the other two regions took the field as Ospreys beat Newport Gwent Dragons 20-10.

The event has proved a popular stage for Welsh rugby, but for the event to take place two of the regions must agree to give up the benefits of a game that would have been played on their own ground.

However, the WRU remains confident that a new deal can be struck.

"The WRU is looking forward to continuing the partnership with Cardiff Blues and the Newport Gwent Dragons which has produced two successful Judgement Day events at the Millennium Stadium," added the statement.
