London Irish have signed former Worcester and London Scottish lock Dave Lyons until January.

The 29-year-old played his first Premiership game for Worcester Warriors against Harlequins in 2009, just 18 months after taking up the sport.

"Dave is a physical, ball-carrying second rower who has amassed plenty of experience in the Premiership," said director of rugby Brian Smith.

Lyons will provide over for Nic Rouse, who is currently out with an injury.

"There is plenty of rugby to play in the next couple of months so Dave will get an opportunity," Smith added.

The Exiles also have doubts over Sean Cox's hamstring while Jebb Sinclair and Dan Leo will both be away in November with their respective nations.
