Leicester have signed lock Jack Whetton on a deal until the end of the season.
New Zealander Whetton has recently been playing for Australian club Brumbies in the Super Rugby competition, but the 22-year-old has been training with Tigers in the past few days.
Director of rugby Richard Cockerill told BBC Radio Leicester: "We are a little bit short of lock cover.
"He has signed until the end of the season. We have an option for longer and we'll see how he gets on."
Whetton's father Gary played 58 Tests for the All Blacks and captained the side 15 times, while his uncle - and Gary's twin - Alan won 65 caps as a flanker.
