Connacht produced a dominant second-half display to earn a bonus-point win over under-strength Bayonne in the European Challenge Cup game in Galway.

Danie Poolman's first try helped Connacht lead 15-12 at half-time.

Florian Lapeyrade's try moved Bayonne 19-15 ahead but his sin-binning was then punished as Connacht scored 17 points during his absence.

Poolman scored a second try with team-mates Bundee Aki, Dave McSharry and Willie Faloon also touching down.

Jack Carty added three conversion and three penalties for the hosts while Craig Ronaldson slotted over another conversion, as they moved to within a point of Pool Two leaders Exeter.

Bayonne full-back Martin Bustos Moyano kicked his team's 12 first-half points.

The sides will meet in a return game in Bayonne next Saturday.
