England Under-18 international Callum Chick has signed a professional contract with Newcastle Falcons.
The number eight will join the club's senior academy and will be part of the A League squad, for whom he played a friendly against Sale in November.
Chick is a product of the Gosforth Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence scheme.
"He's not only a talented player but is also dedicated and committed to his rugby," academy boss Mark Laycock said.
"We are very much looking forward to him training with the senior squad once he finishes his A levels."
Four of the Falcons' academy players have made their Premiership bows this season, with Simon Hammersley, Sean Robinson, Chris Harris and Tom Penny all breaking through.
Chick, who has also played for Ponteland RFC and had a stint with the Huddersfield Giants rugby league age group sides said: "I've been a keen Falcons fan from a young age and have always wanted to run out for the team at Kingston Park.
"This contract brings me a step closer to that dream."
The length of his contract has not been disclosed.
