Exeter Chiefs prop Alex Brown has agreed a new contract to keep him at Sandy Park until 2017.

The 25-year-old has made 50 appearances since in 2012.

Exeter have also signed Nottingham hooker Shaun Malton on a two-year deal from next season.

England-qualified Malton, 25, is a former South Africa youth international,

"Alex has continued to improve, he works hard, is in good shape and is quite dynamic," Exeter forwards coach Rob Hunter told BBC Sport.

"In the last two months he's had a very strong run and really pushed his way forward, and at the tail end of last season he was very good too, so he keeps taking the steps in the right direction."

Malton scored four tries in 43 games for Nottingham since his debut against Doncaster in November 2012.

"Shaun's doing really well. He's a very dynamic player, which fits the bill for us," said Hunter.

"He's very keen to get his crack in the Premiership and he'll make that position, which is competitive already, even more so.

"He's forced his way through in the Championship, he's a particularly driven individual, and that competition there with Luke [Cowan-Dickie], Elvis [Taione] and Jack [Yeandle] will be very interesting."

Malton commented: "Moving to Exeter is an exciting new chapter in my life. I've heard great things about the Chiefs and I've seen how they have gone over the last few years.

"You can see they are a club on the rise and to be part of that will be great for me."

Meanwhile Exeter academy player Kieran Davies is heading to Nottingham next season, having spent time on dual-registration at the Cornish Pirates.
