Dave Markham believes Jersey cannot get ahead of themselves after their highest-ever finish in English rugby.

Lock Markham turned out 19 times this term as the club - in their third season in the Championship - finished seventh in the table.

"You do not want to get ahead of yourself but we want to improve on this season," he told BBC Radio Jersey.

"The last two seasons we were in a relegation scrap but recently the team gelled, putting some results together."

The 22-year-old has aspirations to progress further at St Peter after spending the last three seasons with the club.

"I have re-signed for next season, I'm loving it here. I love the club and the people and hopefully next season I can get my 100th cap for Jersey," he added.
