London Welsh: Skipper Matt Corker extends stay with Exiles
Captain Matt Corker has signed a new contract at London Welsh, which will also include a role as line-out coach.
Corker, 32, has committed to an Exiles side who will finish bottom of the Premiership this season.
The ex-Wasps lock joined Welsh in 2007 on an initial loan spell and has since scored five tries in 223 appearances, 14 of which were made this season.
"I am really pleased to have re-signed and extend my time with the club that I love so much," Corker said.
"I'm also really grateful to head coach Rowland Philips for allowing me to further my development as lineout coach next year, a role that I am really excited to be fulfilling."
Welsh will play in the Championship next season, barring a London Scottish play-off win that could potentially mean a reprieve for Rowland Phillips' side under ground criteria regulations.
In the worst case scenario, the presence of players such as Corker, one of 14 to re-sign at the Kassam Stadium, will prove crucial in the bid for an immediate return.
"Matt is a model professional, both on and off the pitch, and as a two-time Championship winner his experience of that league will be invaluable," director of rugby Steve added.
"His expertise at the lineout is well documented and in addition to his playing responsibilities next season, Matt will also be line-out coach within our coaching structure."
Meanwhile, flanker Darren Waters has become the 15th member of the current squad to re-commit to the club for next season, with seven more already under contract for 2015/16.
