Cornish Pirates to face Guernsey in pre-season friendly

Championship club Cornish Pirates will face Guernsey in a pre-season friendly.

The two sides will meet at Footes Lane on Friday 21 August as the culmination of a Pirates' week-long training camp.

It is the second successive year Pirates have travelled to face Guernsey, having

"The Pirates were fantastic last year and hopefully the friendship can continue to blossom over the coming years," Guernsey coach Jordan Reynolds told BBC Sport.

Pirates currently have two former Guernsey players on their books - former England Under 18's back Luke Jones and back-row forward George Collenette.

"For us as a whole we're trying to shine a nice light on the rugby club in the community," Reynolds added.

"To have a team over like the Pirates is beneficial for us, not just our first team, but also our youngsters. Hopefully it'll inspire the youngsters to do something great."

Cornish Pirates will also face Redruth, Aberavon, Camborne and Taunton in pre-season.
