Dai Flanagan has been appointed head coach of Llanelli.

The former Pontypridd fly-half switches from development skills coach for the Scarlets to take up the role with the Premiership club.

He joined the region's coaching set-up in 2014 after retiring as a player.

Flanagan takes over from Kevin George, who has replaced Anthony Buchanan as director of rugby following the former Wales international's appointment to the board of the WRU.

"I'm thoroughly looking forward to the challenges ahead," said Flanagan.

"A strengthened squad will give us an opportunity to be more competitive within the Premiership and we will hopefully reap the rewards."
