Redruth have appointed Damien Cook as their captain for their upcoming National Two South campaign.

The 32-year-old second-row is about to start his 12th season with the Reds, having made more than 250 appearances.

"It is an honour to lead the Redruth team and have your name etched in history on the captain's board," Cook told the club website.

"It is going to be an exciting season with a lot of new faces to blend in with the old," he added.

Cook succeeds Chris Fuca as Redruth captain after the flanker stepped down after three seasons in the role.

"It's good to have Damien leading the team this year in what promises to be another exciting year of rugby at the Rec," said head coach Steve Larkins.

"His experience, physical presence and commitment to the club over the last decade has been invaluable in terms of the Reds retaining their National League status.

"Damien has big boots to fill but I'm sure, with the support of all the senior and new players, he will flourish in his new role along with vice-captain Sam Parsons."
