Former Exeter Chiefs scrum-half Rob Coote has joined Cornish Pirates for his second spell with Ian Davies' side.

The 22-year-old made two appearances for the Championship side as temporary cover in the 2012-13 season.

The Cornishman will link up with Pirates' Player Development Foundation along with wing Alex O'Meara, who signed on Monday.

"He's another attack-minded performer who adds to our options for the coming season," said director of rugby Davies.

"Although Rob's a little older than the usual PDF players he is a Cornish lad and we want to get as many Cornish players playing top-level rugby as we can."

Coote made his Exeter debut against London Welsh in an LV= Cup match in November 2012 and also played for them in the A League.

Last year he was a member of the Great Britain University Sevens team that retained the World Championships in Brazil.

As well as operating at scrum-half, Coote can also play in the outside backs.
