Former Wasps winger Tom Varndell is to honour his contract with Bristol despite their failure to win promotion into the Premiership.
Bristol were beaten in the play-off final for the second-successive season.
Because of that 29-year-old Varndell, who signed a contract with the club in January, had an option to trigger a clause and speak to other clubs.
However, Varndell has decided to honour his deal and will play in the Championship next season.
Varndell is one of the most successful players in Premiership history, He has 425 points from 169 appearances and is second on the all-time list of try scorers with 85.
Having started his career at Leicester, he was the joint top try scorer in the English top flight in 2013, and has four England caps.
