Jordan Reynolds: Guernsey boss pleased with Pirates performance

Guernsey v Cornish Pirates
Cornish Pirates have held pre-season training camps in Guernsey for the past two seasons

Guernsey head coach Jordan Reynolds says he has been buoyed by his side's performance in their 71-12 loss to Championship club Cornish Pirates.

The island side, who play in National Three London, scored two tries through 17-year-old full-back Matt Armstrong and fly-half Glen Walters.

"We've just played a Championship side, so anything in National Three can't hurt us," Reynolds BBC Radio Guernsey.

"We played some great rugby against a quality side," he added.

The result was an improvement on the 62-8 loss Guernsey suffered 12 months ago in the corresponding fixture.

"People don't understand that National Three and Championship are leap years apart, but it's where we want to be." Reynolds said.

"We dominated the lineout and we scrummaged well in the first half."

And Reynolds had special [praise for try-scorer Armstrong.

"He was brilliant," he said.

"It was only his second senior game since coming out of the colts and he was one of the men of the match I think."
