Tyler Morgan is set to play for Newport Gwent Dragons against Connacht on Friday, four days after being dropped from Wales' World Cup squad.

The 19-year-old centre was among seven players left out by Warren Gatland.

Dragons travel to Galway for their opening Pro12 match of the new season.

"Tyler will fit in very easily, he's disappointed as you can understand at being released but very keen to get on the field" director of rugby Lyn Jones told BBC Wales.

Morgan is the youngest of 12 players to be given a national dual contract which is 60% funded by the Welsh Rugby Union.

Half a dozen new faces are likely to feature in the Dragons 23 in Galway, including 31 year-old South African scrum-half Sarel Pretorius who has Super Rugby experience with the Cheetahs.

Lock Andrew Coombs is out until November after having to re-start his rehabilitation from knee surgery, while centre Jack Dixon will not be assessed for three months after a kidney injury in pre-season.
