Heaslip happy to be 'closer to home'

Back-row forward Jamie Heaslip welcomes the fact that Ireland are "closer to home" for this year's Rugby World Cup, instead of having to travel to the southern hemisphere, as was the case in 2011.

Joe Schmidt's squad carried out most of their preparations in Dublin, before arriving in Wales just a few days before their opening Pool D game against Canada at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

"What the management did in keeping us at Carton House for pre-season was really good. There are a lot of team members with young families and it is great that they were able to get home really quickly," said Heaslip.
