Plymouth Albion have signed Sierra Leone-born lock Shek Sherrif.

The 20-year-old, who has moved to the city to study, has previously played for Henley and was part of the academy programme at Premiership side Wasps.

Sherrif only took up rugby four years ago after moving to the UK following a posting for his father, who was serving with the British Army.

"I think I have come quite a long way in four years. I have had some really good people to help me out," he said.

"I didn't even know the game existed before I came here. It is all about playing football in Sierra Leone and that's it.

"But I came over here and I started playing rugby and I loved it," added Sherrif, who has so far this season spent time at National Three side Newton Abbot.

Plymouth Albion currently play in National One after the club was relegated from the Championship last season, having almost going into administration.
