Jersey battled back from 19-0 down and then 22-5 behind at half-time to secure a draw against Doncaster Knights in the British and Irish Cup.
Two tries from winger Tyson Lewis followed by Jim Wigglewoth's touch down put the visitors in control.
The islanders hit back though with tries from Tom Howe, Ross Adair and Nick Haining before Brendan Cope's penalty levelled the scores.
Cope had the chance to win it with the last kick but his penalty drifted wide.
Doncaster, who were finalists in this competition last season, had been ahead inside two minutes at St Peter when Lewis sprinted in for the opening score.
His second and then full-back Wigglewoth's try, after a good run and through-kick from Mat Clark, put the visitors in a dominant position.
But Jersey were on the scoreboard soon after when winger Howe received the ball wide on the right and crossed the whitewash.
In windy conditions both sides struggled with the line-out, with Jersey particularly wasteful and missing out on numerous chances to utilise their normally powerful driving maul.
The hosts had a second try though just 90 seconds into the second half when Adair darted in to score in the left corner before Australian back-row Haining crashed over for a converted try which narrowed the gap to three points with just over 20 minutes to play.
Cope's successful penalty - after referee Fergus Kirby had penalised Knights for wheeling the scrum through 90 degrees - made it 22-22, but the fly-half's last ditch penalty from the 10-metre line drifted wide of the right post.
In the other Pool Five match Newport Gwent Dragons "Select" were 34-10 winners away to Connacht Eagles.
