Ulster Rugby Extra: Bowe to miss Ospreys game
- From the section Rugby Union
Tommy Bowe says he is almost certainly out of Ulster's vital Pro12 game against his old club the Ospreys on Saturday as the Irish province aim to secure a semi-finals spot.
Monaghan man Bowe, 32, returned to Pro12 action against Zebre last month after being ruled out since picking up a serious knee injury in Ireland's World Cup quarter-final defeat by Argentina in October.
However, Bowe sustained a recurrence of the injury in the game in Italy after scoring two tries.
"I suppose the plan was only to come off the bench and get 20 or 30 minutes against Zebre but I ended up playing the full 80 and that was probably my downfall," said Bowe.
The Ireland wing says it's not clear whether he will be able to feature in the Pro12 play-offs later this month if Ulster do manage to progress to the semi-finals.
Ulster need a bonus-point victory against Bowe's old club at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday to make the semi-finals although a regulation victory or perhaps even a defeat could be enough for Les Kiss' side to progress if Munster manage a conclusive win over the Scarlets at Thomond Park.
