Ireland stunned holders New Zealand at the World Under-20 Championship in Manchester to put themselves in line for a semi-final spot.

Greg Jones, Adam McBurney and Max Deegan scored Irish tries as they fought back from 14-6 down to clinch a nine-point win.

Victory over Georgia on Wednesday will see Ireland reaching the semi-finals.

The Irish success was their first ever win over New Zealand at an age-group world championship.

Ireland defeated this season's Grand Slam winners Wales 26-25 in their opening game on Tuesday.

The Irish will be fancied to account for a Georgia side already hammered 55-0 by New Zealand in the tournament.
