Harvey Biljon: Jersey Reds boss struggling to bolster injury-hit squad

Jersey Reds boss Harvey Biljon says he is struggling to bring in cover for his injury-ravaged squad.

The islanders were without a dozen players for last week's British and Irish Cup win over Cardiff Blues.

It forced Jersey to bring Alex Rae and Dave Felton out of retirement, while the club lost full-back Jack Cuthbert to a potentially serious injury.

"We are looking at options to bring players in, but it is very difficult," Biljon told BBC Radio Jersey.

"We have gone to some of the Premiership clubs, but with the November Tests coming up and the LV= Cup, as well as the A League, there's not a lot of players that are available.

"It is a difficult time of year and pre-season is starting in the southern hemisphere, so a lot of guys don't want to move."

Biljon has warned that his side, who face three of the top four in the next four matches, could be in for a difficult period: "We know we're going to have four or five really tough weeks.

"If we can get through those weeks without too many more injuries and our squad comes back to fitness, I think that's when the wheel turns for us and we get that real run."
