Former Scotland forward Ian MacGregor dies

Former Scotland forward Ian MacGregor has died at the age of 85, having passed away at Crosshouse Hospital.

MacGregor was capped nine times for his country in the 1950s, when he played for Hillhead then Llanelli.

He went on to become manager of Scotland's touring team in Australia in 1982 and was convenor of the selection committee for the 1984 Grand Slam win.

MacGregor had joined the Scottish Rugby Union committee in 1975 while with Glasgow Academicals.

He resigned from the committee in 1989.

His two sons, Calum and Graeme, formed a half-back partnership for Accies.
