Gareth Anscombe: Cardiff Blues fly-half faces lay off after surgery
Cardiff Blues and Wales fly-half Gareth Anscombe could be out of action for up to six weeks with a groin injury.
Anscombe, 25, will have an operation and could be out until the New Year - missing the derby matches against Dragons and Scarlets.
The New Zealand-born back's last match was for Wales against Japan last month.
His absence means a place on the bench for Nicky Robinson against Ulster on Saturday, nearly seven years after his last game for the region.
Anscombe was a key player in Blues' impressive start to the Pro12 season when they won their opening four matches.
Robinson has returned to the Cardiff Blues on a short-term contract just four months after announcing his retirement from the game.
The 34-year-old made 125 appearances for the region from 2003 until his move to Premiership side Gloucester in 2009.
