Alan Paver: Cornish Pirates coach to have 'tough conversations' after Richmond loss

Cornish Pirates coach Alan Paver says he will have "tough conversations" with his team after their 26-23 Championship loss to bottom-of-the-table Richmond.

Tom Channon, Tom Hendrickson and Matt Evans scored tries for Pirates, who led for most of the game.

"From a coaching perspective I've got to really rethink what I'm doing," Paver told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We'd talked about complacency, and it looked like we were over the lessons of the past, but obviously not."

A losing bonus point lifted the Cornish side to eighth in the table, while for semi-professional Richmond it was only their second victory of the campaign.

"There are going to be some tough conversations, really tough - we're going to look at each other and we're going to ask the honest question - why did this result happen, and I want to know," Paver added.

"What does it change? It changes nothing - we've got to continue what we're doing, and growing and moving forward, but for me that was going back to the old days."
